In South Africa, rigid dump trucks and articulated dump trucks serve different operational roles. Rigid frame trucks are used on well-maintained haul roads in surface mines and quarries where their high payload capacity and speed justify the infrastructure investment. Articulated dump trucks (ADTs) are preferred on civil construction sites and in conditions where the haul route is soft, steep or variable — their articulated joint and all-wheel drive allowing them to maintain traction and manoeuvrability in mud and rough terrain.
Payload class selection should be driven by the production requirement, not just the available budget. An undersized dump truck that requires 15 cycles per hour instead of 10 also requires more fuel, more tyre wear and more operator time to move the same volume. MCM Group can assist with cycle time analysis to help you select the right payload class for your production targets.
MCM Group dump trucks are available with standard tipping bodies suited to general earthworks, as well as rock bodies with heavier-gauge steel and raised sideboards for quarry rock and crusher run applications. Tipping hoist systems are hydraulically operated from the cab, and safety props are provided as standard for maintenance access under the raised body.
All dump trucks supplied by MCM Group come with full local warranty, parts availability and after-sales support from our branches in Cape Town, George, Gauteng and Bloemfontein. Finance options include operating lease and instalment sale through MCM Group's approved finance partners.
