Wood chippers are used for chipping branches and brush for land clearing, forestry and garden maintenance. Whether you are a contractor, farmer, plant-hire operator or municipality, our team will help you match the right machine to your application and budget rather than over- or under-speccing the job.
Start with the work the machine will do most often. Matching engine power, operating weight and lift or dig capacity to your typical tasks keeps running costs down and avoids paying for capability you will rarely use. If you run attachments, check the hydraulic flow and coupler type up front, and think about transport — how you will move the wood chipper between sites affects which size class makes sense.
Compare the full specification of each model on its product page, then weigh up availability of parts, ease of servicing and resale value. A slightly higher purchase price often pays back through lower downtime and better support, which is exactly where buying a wood chipper with a local warranty and a national parts network has the edge over a grey import.
Pricing for wood chippers at MCM Group starts from R 7 288 excl. VAT, with the final figure depending on configuration, attachments and any current specials. Request a quote on any model for an up-to-date, all-in price including VAT and delivery to your area.

Tree felling contractors in South Africa's urban areas face a growing requirement to chip all material on site, as municipalities increasingly prohibit open burning within town boundaries and skip hire for green waste has become expensive. A self-propelled or towable wood chipper allows contractors to process tree trunks, limbs and brush into chip that can be left on site as mulch, collected by landscapers or transported in a much-reduced volume compared to whole branches.
Infeed capacity (the maximum branch diameter the chipper can accept) is the most important specification for tree work. Smaller disc chippers handle branches to 100—150 mm diameter — suitable for garden and light commercial tree work. Drum chippers process 200—300 mm diameter material and above, suitable for full tree felling operations and municipal street tree pruning contracts.
MCM Group supplies wood chippers with full local warranty, chipping knife and anvil replacement parts and after-sales service from our branches in Cape Town, George, Gauteng and Bloemfontein.
