Twenty machines, one robot dog and four days of real conversations with Western Cape farmers. This is how MCM experienced NAMPO Cape 2026 in Bredasdorp, and what we learned on Stand D49 about where agriculture is heading.

NAMPO Cape 2026: Key Takeaways
- Where and when: Bredasdorp Park, Western Cape, 9–12 September 2026. MCM exhibited on Stand D49.
- What we showed: 20 machines, including the full MCM X-Range of TLBs, front end loaders, excavators, forklifts, a cherry picker, a UTV and an MB Crusher bucket crusher.
- Robotics: the MCM Robotics team demonstrated the Unitree Go2 robot dog to farmers and families.
- The big theme: in a tough season, farmers want machines that do more than one job, with local parts, service and finance behind them.
NAMPO Cape 2026 at a Glance
NAMPO Cape, presented by Grain SA at Bredasdorp Park, is the Western Cape’s premier agricultural show. The 2026 edition ran under the theme “Together We Grow”, with more than 500 exhibitors across 32 hectares in the heart of the Overberg grain region.

It was not an easy year to put on a show. High fuel prices, tight margins, the impact of foot-and-mouth disease and rain on the Friday and Saturday all weighed on attendance. Preliminary figures reported by Farmer’s Weekly put visitor numbers at roughly 38,000 to 40,000, down from the record 49,326 in 2025. Even so, exhibitors reported good business, and the visitors who made the trip came with real projects and real questions. That made for some of the best conversations we’ve had at any show this year.
What MCM Showcased on Stand D49
Our goal for NAMPO Cape was simple: bring a machine for every job on a Western Cape farm. From compact TLBs that fit between vineyard rows to front end loaders for the feedlot and grain store, here’s the full line-up. Tap any machine to see specifications and pricing.

TLBs (Backhoe Loaders) · 7 machines
Front End Loaders & Telescopic Loaders · 4 machines
Excavators & Compact Equipment · 3 machines
Forklifts & Lifting · 3 machines
Farm Utility & Attachments · 3 machines

Take a Walk Around the MCM Stand
Real Conversations With Western Cape Farmers

The machines brought people to the stand. The conversations kept them there. Over four days, the MCM team welcomed long-standing customers who came to catch up, share how their machines are performing and plan their next fleet addition. We also met many farmers, contractors and business owners who were seeing MCM equipment up close for the very first time.
Both matter to us. Existing customers tell us honestly what works on their farms and what we can do better. New visitors bring new applications, and sometimes a problem nobody has asked us to solve before.
Requirements First, Machines Second
A vineyard, a grain farm, a dairy and an earthmoving contractor might all need a loader, but rarely the same loader. So most of our time on Stand D49 went into practical questions:
- What are you moving? Grain, feed, bales, bins, rock or soil, and how much every day?
- Where does it work? Hard yards, soft fields, steep slopes, tight vineyard rows or low sheds?
- Can one machine do two jobs? A TLB that digs and loads, or a loader with a bucket crusher, often beats buying two machines.
- What happens after the sale? Parts, service, warranty and finance over the life of the machine.
Those answers decide which machine a customer should buy. Our job is to make sure every customer goes home with the right machine, not just a bigger one.

That multi-purpose thinking is why the MB-L160 bucket crusher drew so much attention. Fitted to a loader or TLB, it turns rock that would otherwise be carted away into usable material for farm roads, yards and foundations, right where it’s needed.
MCM Robotics: The Unitree Go2 at NAMPO Cape

Among the diesel and hydraulics, the MCM Robotics team brought something very different to Bredasdorp: the Unitree Go2 quadruped robot. MCM Robotics is the official South African distributor for Unitree Robotics, supplying, importing and supporting its robot dogs and humanoids locally.
The Go2 is a crowd-pleaser, but behind the smiles are serious questions about what it can actually do on a farm. Using LiDAR and onboard cameras to sense its surroundings, and four legs to cross uneven ground, it opens up real possibilities for agriculture:
- Inspections of pump stations, pipelines, sheds and infrastructure
- Security patrols around yards, stores and equipment
- Monitoring of livestock, crops and conditions, collecting data where it’s needed
- Education and research in AI, autonomy and precision farming
We’re realistic. A robot dog won’t replace a tractor, a TLB or a skilled farmworker. But putting the Go2 next to our TLBs and loaders was deliberate. It shows where agriculture is heading: machines that move earth and lift loads will increasingly work alongside machines that sense, measure and act on their own.
Planning for the Future of Western Cape Agriculture

Many conversations at NAMPO Cape looked beyond the next purchase. With margins under pressure, farmers are investing carefully. Water efficiency, irrigation upgrades, renewable energy and protective infrastructure were all high on the agenda at this year’s show. Mechanisation is part of that picture too. The right machine eases labour pressure, saves time in critical windows like planting and harvest, and helps a farm do more with less.
Our role is to plan that future with our customers. That means choosing equipment that suits the operation today and still makes sense in five years. It means backing every machine with parts, service and competitive deals. And it means keeping an eye on new technology, from smarter machinery to robotics, so our customers are ready when it becomes practical on their farms.
For Western Cape customers, that support is close by. Our Cape Town branch in Kraaifontein and our George branch serve farmers and contractors across the province, from the Swartland and Boland to the Overberg and the Garden Route.

Thank You, Bredasdorp
A sincere thank you to everyone who visited Stand D49: our loyal customers, the new faces, the families and everyone who simply came to say hello to the robot. Thank you also to Grain SA, Bredasdorp Park and the NAMPO Cape organisers for another excellent show in a difficult year, and to our own team for four long and rewarding days.
To everyone we spoke to about a specific requirement: we’ll be in touch. And if you didn’t make it to Bredasdorp, the conversation doesn’t have to wait for next year. Catch up on our earlier shows in the NAMPO 2026 Bothaville round-up and our KragDag 2026 recap.
